Kirby Hutto has been the GM of the Sprint Pavilion since ground was broken in 2004. He had previously been involved with downtown Charlottesville as the head of the Charlottesville Downtown Foundation in the mid 90’s. It was there that Kirby began to grow the now iconic Fridays After Five concert series which has played such an important role in helping to reinvigorate Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall and as entertainment destination.
At the Pavilion, Kirby has seen hundreds of national touring acts grace the stage. Legends such as Willie Nelson, James Brown, John Prine and Gregg Allman all the way up to current headliners such as Kacey Musgraves, Leon Bridges, and Sturgill Simpson have all been welcomed to Charlottesville. In addition, the Fridays After Five series continues to draw thousands each week to see local and regional talent perform. The Pavilion also hosts community and private events such as the Charlottesville Pride Fest and the UVA Young Alumni Reunion. Finally, we have had the honor to welcome such worldwide luminaries as President Barack Obama (3 times!) and his Holiness, the Dalai Lama.
Kirby has proudly served on the board of the Charlottesville Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce.
